Equipment for the electric arc furnace continues to arrive and is moved in place with a crane. Read on for an update on activities at the melt shop and beyond.

With the tilt platform now in place, the actual assembly of the furnace vessel is beginning to take shape.  Earlier this week, the lower shell was lifted and put in place by a crane.

A feat in itself, the process to place the furnace's lower shell onto the tilt platform requires precision and constant communication between the crane operator and crew on the ground.

Over the next few days, workers will continue to build on the furnace.  Activities will include the hearth and then the roof where the graphite electrodes enter to begin the heating process.
