We are up and running!

The long-anticipated wait is over! We are proud to announce that Lone Star No. 1 Mill was restarted this week. We appreciate the tireless dedication from the entire Lone Star Tubular Operations team to complete the restart activities on schedule and in just four short months. In the picture to the right, an aerial shot of the mill shows a strip of steel ready to pass through the forming rolls before the pipe section is welded.

The No.1 Mill is designed to manufacture full-body normalized electric-welded pipe in sizes from 7" to 16" in outside diameter. The pipe the No. 1 Mill produces is ideal for hydrocarbon exploration and production around the country.

Left, pipe exiting the quencher. Center, pipe moving through the cooling table. Right, near the top, hot pipe can be seen leaving the induction heating furnace.

This concludes our updates on the blog for the Lone Star No. 1 Mill.  We encourage you to contact us if you have additional questions about Lone Star Tubular Operations, or any other U. S. Steel Tubular Products' manufacturing locations or products.
