Read below for a progress update on the construction of the Electric Arc Furnace in Fairfield, Alabama. In the photo below, the furnace hood is being moved towards the melt shop . The opening in the middle of the hood is where the electrodes enter the furnace and provide energy to begin the heating process. ![Furnace Hood](https://blog.usstubular.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Furance%20Hood%202a.jpg?width=750&name=Furance%20Hood%202a.jpg) *Furnace hood is being moved towards the melt shop*   Also at the melt shop, the overhead crane perches near the highest point of the building.
